Time further endorses the findings in ‘Yob Nation’

25 July 2007

1. One of the major contentions in ‘Yob Nation’ was that Blair’s government was a yobbish government, motivated by an aggressive, theatrical desire to promote itself. The publication of Campbell’s diaries, countless commentators on Blair’s Iraq disaster, and the news that Brown is now cancelling classic ‘yob’ innovations such as gambling super-casinos, now show us that Blair and his crowd were particularly thuggish in their techniques and motivations.
2. The prediction that 24 hour drinking would cause more violence have come true. See: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/07/19/ncannabis219.xml
3. The contention that local communities need to be given the power to solve their own problems with anti-social behaviour are now being addressed by the Brown government.
